Local media sources report that thousands of demonstrators have gathered at Thabyaygone Roundabout in the city of Naypyidaw amid continued protests over the recent military coup. Dozens of protests are taking place across the country, including in Yangon where tens of thousands of protesters have reportedly gathered. Most demonstrations have remained peaceful, however, a water cannon was deployed earlier in the day in Naypyidaw. State media sources have also stated that 'lawless wrongdoers' will not be accepted and will be 'prevented and removed'. Protest activity is likely to continue in the coming days and may escalate.
