Military announce month long ceasefire from 1 April

Local media have reported that the Burmese military intend to undertake a one month ceasefire in the country from 1 April. During this time, armed forces will only conduct actions necessary for the defence of government security and administration. The junta had also stated its intention to conduct peace talks with ethnic minorities and to allow celebration of the Thingyan festival.
