Clashes reported amid second consecutive day of anti-government protests, Beirut

Clashes have once again been reported in central Beirut as protesters have continued to demonstrate around the area of Parliament and Nijmeh Square. Official police sources have denied reports that rubber bullets were used. Some reports suggest teargas has been used. As of yet, the demonstrations have reportedly been of a smaller scale compared to those of yesterday, during which protesters stormed several government facilities and live ammunition was reportedly heard.

Update: Further clashes reported in third consecutive day of protests in central Beirut

Local social media sources have reported further clashes on the third consecutive day of protests in central Beirut following the resignation of the Lebanese government announced today. Around 38 injuries have been reported thus far. Demonstrations have been continuously reported around the areas of Parliament and Martyr's Square since 8 August. In Tripoli, gunshots and fireworks were reported, however, they were allegedly used as a form of celebration following the government announcement. Further violence and unrest are likely in the coming weeks, however, this largely depends on developments regarding the political situation.
