SOUTH AFRICA (CSAR: High) - High-profile Memorial Service Planned at Saint George's Cathedral in Cape Town Dec. 31-Jan. 1

Memorial and funeral events for the recently deceased Bishop Desmond Tutu are scheduled at Saint George's Cathedral in Cape Town, Dec. 31-Jan. 1. Tutu, a high-profile anti-Apartheid activist and religious leader, will lie in state Dec. 31. The official funeral will occur Jan. 1.

Analysis: Security forces will almost certainly deploy additional personnel to the site to safeguard dignitaries and manage traffic and the arrival and departure of mourners. Officials will also likely close surrounding roads, including parts of Wale and Adderley streets. Memorial events elsewhere in the country are also likely.
