Explosion
and gunfire reported in Fortul, Arauca department, 22 March
According to local news reports, an explosive-laden
vehicle was detonated in Fortul overnight on 22 March in an apparent attack
on government military personnel stationed in the area. Local reports suggest
the explosion was followed by gunfire; however, there were no reports of any
casualties or damage to nearby buildings. Although the perpetrators are still
to be identified, it has been suggested the attack was carried out by FARC or
ELN dissidents.
