Update: Protests continue for fifth consecutive day across major cities, roadblocks in place in Mandalay

Demonstrations are underway across Myanmar's largest cities for a fifth consecutive day to protest the recent military coup and demand the restoration of democracy. Roadblocks have been reported in Mandalay and government employees have already taken to the streets of Naypyidaw. Additionally, a large group of engineers have begun marching through Yangon. In recent days, protesters have been met with aggressive crowd dispersal tactics, including water cannons, batons, rubber bullets and live rounds. The military government has declared martial law in several major cities, effectively banning protest activity.
