Multiple casualties reported following clashes between security forces and militant group in Ituri

Media sources report that at least 25 people have been killed after armed militants launched a double attack on 19 and 20 April targeting the Djugu and Irumu territories. Reports indicate that the attack in Irumu resulted in the death of at least twelve people, including seven armed assailants and five civilians. Additionally, multiple properties were set on fire. The populations of nearby neighbourhoods have also subsequently evacuated. Meanwhile, a second attack resulted in the death of at least 13 people in the village of Lodha, Djugu. Reports indicate that the militants have since been pushed back.
