Magnitude 7.5 earthquake detected north of Barranca
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) has detected a magnitude 7.5
earthquake 36 kilometres north of Barranca in Peru. The earthquake struck at
a depth of 99 kilometres at approximately 10:52 UTC. The material impact of
the earthquake on surrounding settlements and communities is unknown at this
time. No tsunami warning has been issued by Peruvian authorities in response
to the earthquake due to its position in-land.
