Volcanic eruption at Pacaya Volcano, 30 kilometres southwest of Guatemala City

Guatemalan authorities have confirmed a series of weak explosions at the Pacaya Volcano, 30 kilometres southwest of Guatemala City. The explosions have expelled volcanic material at heights of up to 125 metres above its crater. Images from the scene confirm the presence of actvie lava flows on the side of the volcano.
