Update: Iran confirms seizure of tanker in the Persian Gulf

Iranian state media have confirmed the seizure of a chemical tanker in the Persian Gulf by members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The South Korean-flagged vessel, MT Hankuk Chemi, was escorted by IRGC speed boats to Iranian territorial waters after Iran alleged that the vessel was polluting the waters of the Persian Gulf with chemicals. The vessel was taken to the Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas. All crew members were detained, which included nationals of South Korea, Indonesia, Vietnam and Myanmar.
