Update: Cyclone Yaas forecast to make landfall near Paradip on 26 May

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has confirmed that Cyclone Yaas is forecast to make landfall near Paradip on 26 May. Cyclone Yaas is currently located over the Bay of Bengal and is tracking towards the coastline of both the Odisha and West Bengal states of India. Heavy rain is forecast in Murshidabad, Malda, Dakshin, Dinajpur, Birbhum, Bankura, Purulia, and Bardhaman. Evacuations have also begun in several low-lying coastal areas in both states, such as in Digha in the district of East Medinipur. 85 National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been deployed to both Odisha and West Bengal, and resources have been mobilised across the Indian military and coast guard in preparation for Cyclone Yaas' arrival.
