Update: Citywide evacuations underway in Liege due to rising river level

The acting Mayor of Liege, Christine Defraigne, has advised all residents and travellers within the city of Liege to evacuate as soon as possible due to the prospect of the Meuse River overflowing. Residents and travellers residing close to the banks of the Meuse River in Liege are stated to be at the most risk and have been advised to evacuate immediately. No motor vehicles are currently allowed to enter Liege city centre under the evacuation order, although vehicles are allowed to depart. No further information is available at this time.
