Surge in deadly attacks reported in Zamfara State
Government officials estimate that at least 200 civilians have been killed
and 10,000 displaced in attacks by armed militants on villages in the state
of Zamfara since 4 January. The surge in violence by armed bandits follows
military airstrikes on their hideouts in the Gusami forest. Further related
violence is likely in the near future.
