Update: Fighting between Junta forces and rebels ongoing in Mindat, reports of civilians used as human shields

Local media sources report that fighting between local resistance forces and military junta fighters is ongoing in Mindat, Chin State. Reports indicate that the military has deployed ground and air forces indiscriminately, placing civilians in danger. Reports have also emerged of military members using civilians as human shields, prompting many residents to flee their homes. Helicopters seen landing in the city were fired at by military artillery, resulting in damage to several nearby houses. An exact number of casualties has not yet been confirmed as the violence continues.
