Update: Maysak to become year's strongest typhoon, strong winds reported in Kumejima

Media reporting indicates that Typhoon Maysak will continue to strengthen and could reach winds of 115 mph on the evening of 1 or 2 September, making it equal in strength to a Category 4 hurricane. The Typhoon currently contains sustained winds of 95 mph, equivalent to a Category 3 hurricane. The Typhoon is forecast to make landfall in South Korea during the night of 2 September after passing through the Ryuku Islands. The storm is expected to miss China and slam western Japan and the Korean Peninsula. There are already strong winds and heavy rainfall being experienced in some areas, including Kumejima.
