Update: Death toll
increased following attack in Kongsberg, suspect in custody
Police officers stationed in Kongsberg have confirmed that the death toll
following an armed attack in the town has increased with media reports
indicating that at least four people have been killed. Several other people
are reported to have been injured and have been transferred to Dramman
Hospital for medical treatment. A police operation was triggered in the town
of Kongsberg after an individual alleged to have been armed with a bow and
arrow was spotted in the area. The attacks are reported to have been
conducted over a wide area of the town and the police have not ruled out the
possibility of classifying the incident as an act of terrorism. A suspect
remains in custody and a police investigation is ongoing.
