Large coronavirus-related protest and clashes reported in central
Brussels
According to posts on social media, thousands of people were gathered in
Brussels' Parc de Cinquantenaire as of 14:00 local time to protest COVID-19
restrictions and vaccine passports. Other reports indicate isolated clashes
have occurred between groups of protesters and security forces in the
vicinity of EU buildings and institutions, including the European External
Action Service building. Security forces appear to have deployed tear gas and
water cannons in a bid to disperse the protesters.
