Update: Government confirms plane has crashed near Pulau Laki

The Minister for Transportation has confirmed that a plane belonging to Sriwijaya Air has crash-landed near Pulau Laki whilst flying from Jakarta to Pontianak. The plane, SJ-182 lost contact with ground control four minutes into its flight. Debris including seats, clothing and wiring have been found but search and rescue operations are ongoing to locate the bodies of the passengers.

Update: Plane has reportedly crash landed near Pulau Laki

Multiple sources are reporting that the Sriwijaya Air flight SJ-182 has crash-landed in the Java Sea near Pulau Laki. The plane departed from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport carrying 56 passengers on its way to Pontianak when it lost contact with ground control four minutes into its flight. Videos are emerging showing local fishermen finding debris in the ocean. The government and airline are still yet to make an official announcement.
