Large oil spill reported on 15 January off the coast of
Ventanilla causes wildlife damage
According to local media sources, at least 18,000 square meters of
coastline has been polluted due to an oil spill off the coast of Ventanilla
on 15th January. The incident was caused during a cargo load operation.
Initial reports suggest that dozens of birds and other wildlife have died as
a result of the spill. A number of beaches remain closed.
