Dozens killed following explosion at gold panning site south of
Gaoua
Local media sources report a large explosion at the market area of the
Gomgombiro gold panning site in Gbomblora, south of the town of Gaoua in Poni
Province. The blast has resulted in at least 60 fatalities and many injuries,
as well as enormous material damage. The explosion was reportedly caused by
explosives at the facility. Emergency service operations are ongoing at the
scene.
