Authorities in British Columbia have declared a state of emergency across
the province amid heavy flooding and landslides. The region has experienced
record levels of rainfall in recent days, resulting in at least one death
from a mudslide. Thousands remain stranded as military assistance is deployed
to aid evacuation efforts.
Further heavy rainfall will impact the province and create hazardous
conditions over the coming days. Continue to adhere to all instructions
issued by authorities, including orders to evacuate. Flooding has already led
to widespread travel disruption. It is not recommended to attempt to drive
through flooded roads. Dangerous obstacles are often unseen in floodwaters
and there is potential for strong undercurrents, even in low-level floodwaters.
