Gunmen kill two and abduct local politician in Katsina State

Local media sources report that two people were killed and a local politician was abducted, alongside nine others, in four separate attacks in Katsina state. The two victims were reportedly killed in Kandawa village and Dan Alhaji village respectively on Thursday 2 July, while the abductions took place in Matazu and Wurma on Saturday 4 July. According to local sources, the kidnappers have not yet established contact with the families and their motivations remain unknown. Given the ongoing nature of these developments, it is possible that there will be more attacks in the near future.
