Update: Tsunami threat reported to have passed (업데이트)

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) has rescinded the tsunami warning issued following the earthquake of magnitude 7.0 detected off the coast of Popondetta. The detected magnitude of the earthquake was shifted multiple times, between 6.9 and 7.3. Although shaking was experienced, no damage or casualties were reported.

A Tsnuami warning has now been issued for an earthquake occurring off the coast of Popondetta, Papua New Guinea. The original tremor occurred at a depth of 79.8km at 02:50 UTC. Surrounding coastlines are at risk. There are still no reports of casualties or damage
