Wildfire
prompts evacuation of villages in Ansiao
According to local media, two villages have been
evacuated following a wildfire in the municipality of Ansiao, district of
Leiria. The villages of Lagoa da Parada and Marquinho have been evacuated
alongside localities in the parish of Santiago de Guarda. Mainland Portugal
is under a red alert due to an excessive heatwave. Currently, at least 2600
firefighters are battling multiple fire fronts in Pombal, Leiria, Faro and
Palmela.
